We
had the privilege to interview her and ask a few questions for
you guys.
Go
grab a cup of tea, or coffee, sit back, scroll down, and start
reading!
Hi!
My name is Yasmine, I am a cross media student living in Belgium. I
am originally from Marrakesh in Morocco.
CURRENT
& FUTURE PROJECTS
I
am currently working on a brand new magazine (exciting!).I hope to be
more involved and engaged in blogging in the future and give a revamp
to my website-
IS
IT TRUE YOU ARE WORKING ON A NEW MAGAZINE? CAN YOU TELL US SOMETHING
MORE ABOUT IT?
That
is true! I can't believe it myself! It's unbelievable to see my
pictures and written texts on a real physical copy of a magazine! As
a kid. it was my dream to work for a magazine, so I guess it has
finally come true!
The
magazine is made by muslim women, for muslim women. I guess you can
guess what section I am working on, I am obviously involved in the
fashion column with my lovely friend Radia, I can't tell much about
the content for now, it is top secret but I can confirm one thing for
sure, and that is all the readers are going to love it, it comes out
in September (buy it!) and I can't wait to read your first
impressions about it.
WHERE
DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
Honestly,
I am mostly inspired by what I see on Instagram. Not especially the
account that have a bazillion followers! I am more about the girl
next door account. Of course, I follow bloggers too! One of my
favorites is Oumayma from "The Fashion District." She is by
far my biggest inspiration. She is modest, minimal, and has a great
personality.
FAVORITE
PIECES IN YOUR CLOSET
My
thrifted coat is for sure one of my favorite things in my closet, it
cost me 8 euros, a bargain! It is super warm and warm and would be
the perfect winter coat. My 7 for all mankind jeans are also close
to my heart, perfect fit, and color (you guessed it, black)
An Outfit...
If
I had to go for a perfect outfit, I would choose a black leather
jacket, a black sweater and to top it off, I would wear black court
heels-black disease still hitting strong..
I
am a not big fan of accessories, I rarely wear much jewelery. In my
opinion, what finishes an outfit is a statement pair of shoes.
Shoes
are so so so important to me and they have to stand out, that's also
the first thing I notice when I see a girl pass by. Her shoes.
ARE
THERE ITEMS
YOU
OWN AND
YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO WEAR FOREVER, BUT
ENDED UP
REGRETTING
BUYING THEM?
My
Jeffrey Campbell Lita Look-a-likes. I bought two different sizes for
each foot ! Stupid, I know..
MOST
TREASURED ITEMS...
The
items I most treasure are definitely my lace-up heel, I first saw
them on a blog post and absoltely fell in love, but of course, I
couldn't find them.
When
I finally spotted them in Pimkie, I wasn't sure whether I should get
them or not, and I eventually didn't buy them..long story short, it
was the saddest day of my life ! Haha.
My
sister got them for me at Zara a bit later and that was kind of the
best day of my life!
Another
item I treasure would be the Chanel Boy Bag, not yet in my closet but
pleeeeeaase come to me sweet little boy !!
YOUR
VISION ABOUT FASHION AND MODESTY
I
think fashion and modesty go perfectly together. Modesty give a
little mystery to the outfit, and that is what I like in an outfit,
the mysterious part. It is easy to see that I have an addiction to
black. It's mysterious !
WHATS
A TREND RIGHT NOW? AND HOW SHOULD ONE INCORPORATE WESTERN FASHION
WITH MODEST ATTIRE?
I
think that there is a trend going at the moment, and it is to keep a
form of simplicity in our choice of dress. Modesty is simple and it
is not hard to mix it with western fashion. I deal with western
fashion in the magazine, but as a muslima, I always try to
incorporate a modest factor in my choice of clothing.
SHARE
SOMETHING SUPRISING ABOUT YOURSELF
Little
confession...
Okay,
this should stay between us ; I have never tried sushi ! So
now who wants to take me out for a sushi and try it ?! I have
OCD as well, for some reason I always want everything to be perfect,
all the time !
